As SA nervously awaited the outcome of the 2024 election and the hope of a bright new political future, both the financial and property sector remained on tenterhooks. It was a tightrope scenario for many. What a huge relief for all as we now celebrate the new era of a Government of National Unity which is undoubtedly the High Road scenario.
On the back of these fantastic results South Africa’s projected economic growth prospects are expected to improve substantially. Economists predict a reduction in CPI and 1% growth in GDP over the next year. In addition, interest rates are expected to drop.
This will favour the already active Western Cape property market even further. The current shortage of properties for sale, as a result of increased demand from upcountry and foreign investors, is expected to drive prices up further. We would therefore encourage all potential investors to buy in our “ low season” ie Winter while there is still some choice.
